Long Street ~ Wotton-under-EdgeMy great grandfather's chemist/grocery store and Eusebius Portlock was well known in the town. Apparently, there's a fair number of artifacts, including a copy on one of his Portlock prescription pads, in a glass case in History Heritage Centre. I thought I\'d ask another question. My grandmother\'s maiden name was Hope Hall. She was born in 1861. Her father was Christopher Hall, a saddle and harness maker in Wotton Under Edge between 1845 and 1864 Does anyone know where his shop was located in the town or have any other information about the Hall family? Would love to hear about it. Bless your website! Got an email from Terry Luker
today. He tells me that the old Tolsey House was Christopher Hall's, (my
maternal great grandfather's) Saddle and Harness Business. It's that lovely
old building I've seen on your website- the one with the clock attached,
which I'm sure you know, on Market Street near Long Street. |
